Andi takes you over by the park restrooms. At that moment the nearby grass is being watered by large sprays from a set of automatic sprinklers. Without a word she grabs your camera and places it on a picnic table out of the way of the spray, then sets her camera beside it and drags you along with her under the water.
“Andi, what are you doing?”
“C'mon, . Don't be a wuss!” You look around and see a few of the grillers raising their eyebrows at you, while a few more of them laugh. But then Andi smiles widely at you as she yanks you in.
Quickly you cup your hands to collect some of the water, then you turn and splash it into Andi's face. She sputters a bit, then stars at you. “I'll get you for that!” With that she jumps at you, tackling you to the ground and rolling you around in the wet grass.
“Oh yeah!” you respond as you roll away from her, then grab her in a bear hug and pick her up. She struggles against you as you drag her right in front of the sprinkler so the water sprays across her chest before letting her go. Immediately she grabs your arm and twists you off balance so she can shove you into the path of the spray.
After stumbling for a minute in the water spray, you turn to look at Andi. You find her sitting on the ground laughing at you. At that moment you notice the wet grass clinging to her hair, her wet Cobra shirt clinging nicely to her chest, and the splotches of mud clinging to her face and arms. “Do I look as silly as you?” you ask her.
“I hope so, because you look hilarious,” she smiles at you as she stands up. The two of you go to the restrooms to dry your hands, then use the cameras to take several pictures of yourselves and each other. Then, as the sky darkens, you get into your car and head home, singing “Hungry Like The Wolf” by Duran Duran and Bryan Adams' “Do I Have To Say The Words.”
Once you arrive, both you and Andi remove your shoes so you don't track mud through the building, then you walk arm and arm up the stairs towards Andi's room. The two of you laugh and kid each other as you walk up the stairs, ignoring the questioning and confused looks of Sarah and Kelly.
The two of you stop at Andi's room. She turns to smile at you. “I guess I should get some clean clothes on and get cleaned up.”
“Yeah,” you reply eloquently.
As one, the two of you lean towards each other and kiss softly, the softness of your moist lips and the warmth flowing from each other overpowers the wetness and disarray of your clothes. The kiss is softly broken but your eyes still hold each other for a few seconds before you let Andi go and she walks into her room, waving shyly as she closes the door to change.
You find yourself lingering in front of Andi's door for a few moments when Sarah's voice brings you back to the present. |
