Lantern Memorial is a beautiful, slightly obselete teaching hospital located in a sprawling Victorian building not far off campus. Although it's architecture is somewhat counter-intuitive, Sara Wade has visited a number of times during her studies for observation and interviews, so she knows her way around the building enough to locate the executive offices on the third floor.
As she walks through the hallways, Sara beams with quiet satisfaction at the bustling activity around her. She imagines helping the people here for help, and can't wait to be a doctor herself. She turns up a secluded stairwell and starts making her way up to the third floor. Her high heeled shoes click with each step.
Sara steps into the quiet of the administrative offices. The first office door is wide open. It has a sign next to it reading "R.H. Freeman, MD, PhD" then "Chief Executive Officer". Through the doorway she sees a small atrium waiting room, including a leggy redhead bending over arranging magazines on the display table.
Further down the hallway, Sara sees that Dr Pratt's office door is closed, a dim glow coming through its frosted glass. At the far end of the hall Sara notices a stocky blonde man she recognizes from school as George Alford, now a resident. He is speaking with a pretty blonde: Jenny King, another intern from Sara's class year. They haven't noticed Sara yet. |
