The Shepherd Family | GoodSon | 5

Your mother just stares at the photograph, her eyes wide and her mouth hanging open slightly in shock as all color drains from her face. “Seth, I...” She starts to stammer only to have you interrupt her.

“Perhaps we should step into your bedroom to discuss this,” you suggest glancing around the hallway pointedly as you tuck the photo back into your shirt. “I don't think you want anyone else stumbling across us discussing this.”

“You're right,” Mom nods her head slightly as she turns and enters her bedroom with you follow close behind. You swing the door shut behind you, turning the lock so that the two of you won't be interrupted or spied upon. Once the door is shut your mother turns to you, still struggling to appear in control of the situation as she sits demurely on the edge of her rumpled bed. “I can explain...” She assures you, pretending to be in control.

“I 'm sure you can, Mom,” You laugh as you reach into your shirt, tossing the bundle of photos down beside her, “but that's not what I wanted to talk to you about. What I'm curious about is how long has this been going on, Mom?”

“For... for two years,” your mother replies softly, picking up the scattered photographs and slowly thumbing through them, “since Keith's graduation. It was... I was telling him how proud I was of him, of how he'd become such a handsome young man and the next thing I knew I was kissing him.” You mom confesses, seemingly relieved to finally be telling someone of her secret. You remembered the night of Keith's graduation, the small party Mom had thrown and the excessive amount of champagne she had drunk before the evening ended. “We joked that it was his graduation present. Now every time he comes home...” She trails off, her eyes still on the revealing photographs in her hands.

“Well, Mom,” You say after a few seconds of silence, stepping closer to the bed, “I'm graduating in only a few weeks and I wouldn't mind getting my present a little early.”

“Seth, what... what do you mean?” Your mom asks, looking up suddenly in shock as your hands reach out for the top of her towel.

“What I mean, Mom, is that I'll take the same present Keith got on his graduation,” You tell her softly as you pull at the thick terrycloth of her towel, the loose knot holding it in place letting go to reveal your mother's shapely body to your greedy eyes once more. “Only I'll take mine a few weeks early.”

How does Mom react?

          She starts to protest
