The Pendant | CLITaurus | 1

Lynda threw herself down on the bed and cried.

“I’d do anything if I could just get someone to notice me”

“Anything?” said the voice

Lynda turned around to see a girl standing in her bedroom. She looked about 18 with coffee colored skin, long black hair and grey eyes. She was wearing a uniform from a school that Lynda couldn’t recognize.

“What … who are you?” asked Lynda

“I’m whoever you need me to be.” Said the girl “I’ve been a genie, a guardian angel, a devil and a stranger with a wonderful gift. All you really need to know is that I’m here to give you what you were asking for, the ability to be noticed. Plus a few added extras”

“You don’t want my soul do you?”

“Oh no, nothing that radical. We kind of save that deal for really big things like becoming a billionaire or President of the U.S. You know the ultimate power types of deals, you’re desire is too small to ask you for that, I’d feel really bad if I did that to you.”

“So what do you want?”

“Nothing really, only the understanding that if you don’t use my gift you will loose it.”

“Sounds reasonable. If I don’t like what you’ve given me I won’t use it anyway so it won’t really matter.”

The woman handed Lynda a pink heart shaped pendent with an upside-down red teardrop at its center.
“While you wear this you will have no trouble being noticed. In fact you will always be the center of attention. As an added bonus if you hold it in your hand while making a request of someone they will be powerless to refuse. It also has other powers, but I’ll leave them for you to find out.”

“O.k. … umm .. thanks I suppose” said Lynda, not sure what else to say.

“Think nothing of it” said the woman “I’m just here to help”

The next day Lynda woke up, had breakfast and got ready for school. She put on the pendant and hurried off to the bus. At the bus stop she could feel everyone looking at her.

“Is that Lynda?” she heard some guy whisper.

“Yeah” said his friend “I think it is”

“Man, I never noticed how hot she was” said the first. “I always thought she was, you know, kind of average”

“Your right,” said the friend “I don’t know why, but she is definitely smoking today”

Lynda couldn’t believe it. Was the pendant actually making her look more attractive. And what would that mean to the girls, especially the catty ones.

As she got on the bus she realized she was about to find out. Cindy Bowden, the head of cheerleader and the biggest bitch at school was looking right at her.

“Lynda” she said “You look great today, you must sit with me and tell me how you did it”

“Well” thought Lynda. “This is nice”

Throughout the rest of the day Lynda found that everyone was suddenly wanting to talk to her and be her friend. Teachers called on her and even when she got the answer wrong, made her feel o.k. about it. She was invited to every table at lunch, but decided to take her usual table with her best friend Amber as usual. In the change rooms the other girls complimented her figure. All in all it was an amazingly cool day. In fact she was enjoying herself so much that she forgot until after school that the ‘devil-girl’ had mentioned another power.

*So where should I go to test my ‘mind control’ abilities* she wondered.

Where to first?
