The lamp is made of brass and looks just like the one out of 1001 Arabian Nights. "So if I rub this will a Genie appear?" I laughed.
The girl looks serious and nods, "Yes, but his name is really Djinni. He is not a cartoon charecter but a force to be reckoned with. He can grant your deepest wish but you must be careful. He is like the Christian devil or a mythological demon. He will look for ways to warp your wish or fulfill it so literally that you end up in trouble." She caressed the lamp, "This confers much power but brings many risks. He who would wield it must be brave, strong and intelligent."
She looks into my eyes, "I can not let you try it out without you becoming the owner. If you wish to buy it you can pay me one hundred thousand dollars now or pay me later by doing me a favour of my choice. If you choose the later you must promise to fulfill it when, where and how I choose or the lamp will be forfeit and the Djinni mine to command."
Well, it all felt a bit heavy. I had only come in to browse. I did not really believe the lamp would work but if it did not I had nothing to lose under the buy now pay later scheme. I did not have a a hundred thousand to blow. |
