The light has disappeared completely from the night sky when the jeep rumbles into a village. None of the buildings seem to have electricity; every once in awhile a flicker of illumination can be seen through a window, but otherwise the place is pitch black. As the car roars through the village, Africans appear in the headlights like ghosts, parting to let the vehicle past, the light dancing in their eyes. Finally the car comes to a stop near the center of the village, where a large structure squats in the middle of the village square. Light beckons through the open door.

"Where are we?" Heidi whispers in the back seat to Duncan, who simply shakes his head.

"It is too dangerous to drive any more tonight," Andre announces. "This is the mosque. We can stay here tonight." He turns off the vehicle and exits without another word.

"Mosque?" Heather asks with a quivering voice, turning to her father. "A M-muslim church? Will they hurt us because we are Christians?"
