When The Cat's Away | Imhotep | 6

As Gary contemplated a smooth opening line, there was a flash of movement behind him, and the shapely brunette’s eyes filled with concern.

“Alright, everybody down on the floor face down!!” a tall man wearing a navy blue suit yelled. In his hand was a large chrome plated handgun. He was wearing what was obviously a black wig. His face was obscured by a pair of overlarge wrap around sunglasses. Several other men moved to the counter, and jumped over it. They too were dressed in suits.

“Get down!” The brunette whispered as she got down on her knees, and then pressed her face to the floor. Gary followed her example, and laid down close by her. Before her was completely on the floor he shot a glance at the blonde woman he’d seen behind the counter. One of the robbers was pushing towards the vault. “Please don’t hurt me! She said.

Gary turned his face to the side, pressing his cheek against the cold marble floor, to look at the brunette.

“Everybody stay still, and no one will get hurt. Then we'll be outta here in less then five minutes, and everybody will be happy, because I won’t have to shoot anyone.”

The man doing all the talking walked over to where Gary and the brunette were laying on the floor and stopped next to them.. He stepped on the brunette’s skirt and stopped, watching his comrades behind the counter. Out of the corner of his eye, Gary looked at the brunette. Her eyes were squeezed shut, and when the leader shifted his position a bit while still standing on her skirt, his foot glanced against her ribs. She let out a short fearful squeal, and the man looked down at her.

Opening her eyes she gave Gary a pleading look. "When will the cops get here?" Gary thought to himself as he tried to give the woman a reassuring look.

Where are the cops?
