White Slavery on the Dark Continent | 24ward | 4

The taxi rumbles away from the desperate poverty of the town and into a more upscale area around the university. Weaving in and out of traffic, the taxi comes to a stop just outside the university gates.

"No further," the cabbie says. "There is protest." He motions forward. They can hear chanting in the distance.

"Thanks," Seanna says and hands over a couple of dollar bills. The girls get out of the car and pull their packs onto their backs. They shield their eyes as they look towards campus.

"Sounds like some kind of protest," the Irishwoman says.

"Is it safe?" the young Canadian asks nervously. But Seanna just smiles and starts heading towards the noise. Nicole trots along behind her, adjusting the uncomfortable pack on her narrow shoulders.

As they cross the road and crest a hill, Seanna and Nicole come upon the scene of a large and boisterous but peaceful student demonstration. Seanna and Nicole stare in wonder at the raucous scene.

"Wow, this is so amazing," Seanna says, surveying the scene.

"Seanna, my back hurts," Nicole whines. "Let's go to a hotel."

What happens?
