Runaway Molly | 24ward | 3

As she sat alone, Molly couldn't help overhearing the four black boys talking. She noticed that they weren't speaking in English. When she looked over at them, she saw that they were all tall and thin, and very dark. She wondered if they were immigrants. They looked over and smiled at her.

Molly started to feel bad about being afraid of them. Hadn't her family immigrated here from Europe? There boys had probably come from some terrible place, and were just trying to be friendly. She thought of what her minister back home would say, about being welcoming to strangers. With tears in her eyes, she realized she hadn't been very Christian at all.

Molly stood up and went over to their table. The boys looked up at her.

"Hi, I'm Molly. Can I sit down?" she said and pulled up a chair. "I'm really sorry about the way I treated you. I hope we can be friends." She pointed outside. "I'm supposed to be on that bus, but I'm going to get my stuff, and we can get to know each other." She smiled and left the restaurant.

The guys exchanged a look. One of them smiled. "I think she likes us. I think she wants to fuck." he said in his African language.

Ranger, Iowa was a long way from war-ravaged Africa. These refugees couldn't believe the welcome they were going to receive to America.
