A first it was just an ordinary crumpled up piece of paper, one of many that were carelessly cast around her daughter's overflowing trash basket. However, she caught a glimpse of thick block letters on one of the crinkled edges, and gave into her curiosity, unfolding the note and scanning it over. In big bold handwriting, it read:
"Jennifer -
We both know what you want, and we both know I can give it to you. Meet me Saturday night at the Wayside Inn, Room 211. COME ALONE."
No signature or any other clue as to the writer's identity graced the page. Loryn turned it over in her hands, before finally reading it again, puzzled by its cryptic message. Puzzled, but also very curious. It was Saturday afternoon right now, but who could tell how old the note was. Still, Loryn felt an urge to investigate this mysterious note. She could find some way to waylay her daughter and keep her home while she went and investigated herself, or she could follow her. On the other hand, Jennifer liked her privacy, so it might be best to throw the note away and pretend she had never read it.
