When The Cat's Away | Imhotep | 9

Kevin and Rei thew their boards in the back of the van, and moved up to the front, with the raven haired Rei in the passenger seat, and Kevin in back. Slipping the van into gear, Gary backed out, and pulled into light traffic. Dolphin Point was just a few miles away. After a short drive, Gary pulled the van into the nearly deserted lot.

“Man, there’s nobody here.” Kevin whined.

“Chill, Kev. We’ll have the beach all to ourselves, and after we’ll put the mattress to use.” She winked at Kevin, and gave Gary a smile.

“Cool.” Kevin said in reply exiting the van, and retrieving their boards.

Gary followed the couple the short distance to the beach. The sun was high and bright in the deep blue sky, which contained only a few puffy white clouds. As Kevin and Reiko kicked off their sandals, dropped their towels, and jogged towards the crashing waves with their boards, Gary surveyed the beach, and spread out one of the towels on the warm sand.

“Seeya in a bit!” Reiko called over her shoulder as she dove into the water, Kevin following close behind.

Sitting down, Gary pulled off his shoes and socks, and plowed his feet into the sand. Watching as Kevin and Reiko slid onto their boards, and paddled out to deeper water. Looking around the beach once again, he saw two twenty something couples lounging on their towels with a large cooler positioned between them. A thin Hispanic man sat Indian style next to a girl with very long and straight black hair. Her eyes were dark brown, and she was very well built. Her red thong bikini barely covered her curvaceous body.

The man passed a can to a short blonde man with a short, scruffy beard and mustache and a slight paunch around his belly. He passed it onto his female companion, who smiled, and revealed a set of perfect white teeth. Her dark brown hair was short and curly, and she was wearing a pair of oversized sunglasses. Gary thought she looked a bit pale, but he did appreciate her round, apple sized breasts.

Looking further down the beach to his left, he could see two families with young children walking further down the strip of sand. The children yelled loudly to one another, throwing a large red ball between them. On his right was a woman in what looked to be her late thirties, or early forties. She was lying on her stomach, reading a paperback book. Her top was unhooked, and lay on the towel beneath her. She had sandy blonde hair, which she wore pinned in a stylish bun on the top of her head. Her face was long and angular, but not unattractive. Gary noticed that she was wearing eye shadow and frosted pink lipstick.

Turning back to the ocean, he saw Kevin fall as he reached the crest of a wave, Rei quickly crouched and rode it out, yelling in triumph at her achievement. Reaching the beach, she hopped off the board, and into the water, giving him a smile, as Kevin walked along side her, and planned a kiss on her lips.

“Those two are here all the time. Stay here long enough, and they’ll put on a real show. They ain’t exactly shy.”

An athletic looking redhead with her hair done in a long braided ponytail dropped a towel beside his, and sat down next to him.

“I’m Abby Talbot.” She said, extending her hand.

Her fingers were slim, and her nails painted a blood red color, as were those on her feet. Taking her hand, Gary pressed his palm to hers, and she gripped his hand firmly, as she shook it. Her eyes were a deep blue, matching the sky. Reaching into the canvas bag next to her towel, she pulled out a bottle of sunblock. Trying as casually as possible to do so, Gary checked out the redhead.

She was slim, with a flat tummy, but without looking as though she had an eating disorder. Her emerald green bikini top barely contained her full, round breasts.

“I’m Gary” he responded, releasing Abby’s hand.

“Pleased to meet you.” She answered, slipping on a pair of sunglasses, and smiling broadly.

Does Gary make a new friend?

          So it seems.
