Julie slowly awakened and stretched sleepily as she lay on the grass beneath
the hot sun. With a start she opened her eyes, surprised that the events that
had befallen her were more than just a whiskey-fueled dream. Pan sat on a tree
stump examining her with amusement.
"Ahh, at last the goddess wakes," Pan said, his voice rich and exotic with a
subtle bleat as an accent.
While she had slept Pan had retrieved his equipment from the bushes. A short dagger
hung in a scabbard on a belt and a bow and a quiver of arrows was slung over
his shoulder. He also wore a backpack.
Julie decided to go straight to the point.
"Do you know where I could find the ring of Setf?" She asked.
"Alas, I have not heard of this item," Pan answered, "but a zone lies but a
days travel from here peopled by powerful wizards and witches who fight an
endless duel of magic. Surely you could find someone there who could locate
this ring, but just as surely they would demand a heavy price for the
information." |
