You walk in your dorm, now clearly seeing the symbols over everyone's head. You even see a squirrel in the parking lot and it has symbols, too, although fewer of them.
You decide to check your mail as you enter. You go to the box and see a couple of letters, so you open the box and get them out. As you stand there, looking at them, you see a girl from a floor down from yours checking her mail. She's a petite brunette, cute, but not your type, and she has pulled out several items of mail, standing there looking at them. You observe her symbols. Most seem to be some sort of circle with interior and exterior features, but some are compicated "x" shapes or serieses of parallel and perpendicular lines. You focus on one, a circle with a triangle inside, and suddenly you know what it is. It's an attribute--her physical strength! You focus on another, a complicated "x", and discover that it's her ability to speak. You sample several more while she looks at her mail, discovering symbols for attributes, appearances, abilities, skills, psychological characteristics, and other traits.
You move to observe a couple talking--a man and a woman, talking about a date they are going on tonight. As you watch, their symbols seem to modify. The man's symbol for his libido gets brighter and more complicated, and the woman's symbol for self-confidence gets a little weaker and less complicated. You listen, and realize that the man is trying to talk the woman into coming back to his place for drinks after dinner, and he seems to be winning the discussion, based on the changing symbols.
