Angie is noticably disappointed, but shrugs and says, "Oh well. We can get together some other time, I suppose."
You make your way down the hall toward your next class, wondering if you did the right thing. First Krystle, then Angie offered to get together, but for some reason you just feel to shy to say yes.
" !" The sound of your name interrupts your thoughts. You turn and see that it's Ms. White, the cheerleading coach.
"Yes, Ms. White?" you ask.
"Miss , I happened to overhear you turn down two of your teammates who asked you to practice with them. You do realize that in order to be the best cheerleader you can, you're going to need to practice outside of the scheduled times?"
"Of course, Ms. White. It's just... I don't know, I'm a little shy I guess." As if to prove your words, your cheeks flush red.
Ms. White's demeanor softens noticeably. "I understand," she says. "You're in a new school, and a new situation. But I think I have a solution for you. There's another girl on the squad, her name is Amber, and she's also been a little less than forward about getting to know the other girls. Perhaps I could get the two of you together to practice. What do you say?" |
