Blackout | domjoly | 2

It was a miserable day. The train to the city was late and when it finally arrived it was packed. To make matters worse the AC wasn’t working properly. The temperature was close to 100 and I felt every degree in that hot train car. By the time I got to work my cute summer tank top was drenched. As a result my top was see thru and stuck to my body. For once I was grateful to get to work. The air conditioning was so refreshing, but it didn’t help my clothes. I had to wear a sweater that I keep in the office to hide cover myself. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not ashamed of my body. It’s quite the opposite; however I decided not to wear a bra that day and I didn’t want to be sent to human resources for violating the dress code.
After settling I discovered my boss was in a bad mood so he harassed me all day about projects that are due. To make matters worse I accidentally shredded my bosses notes, then got caught shopping on the internet. I didn’t think the day could get any worse, then it happened. I’m sitting at my desk working on something and suddenly everything shut down. Once we figured out that it was a city wide power outage we started grabbing our stuff to leave. After walking down 54 flights of stairs I was in a terrible mood. I walked out the stairwell and there were wall to wall to wall people all milling about. On top of that my shirt was sticking to me again, but I didn’t care. I tried to call my parents and couldn’t get through. I realized then there was no hope for me to get back to Long Island. I decided to take a chance and see if my brother was home. If he wasn’t home I might end up sleeping on the street for the night. I crossed my fingers and started walking.
