The Super | GoodSon | 3

Turning on the television set just reveals garbled static and after ten minutes of fiddling with the coat hanger antenna you shut it off in disgust. As you stand there trying to decide what to do you hear a loud buzzing noise coming from the wall. You turn, startled at the loud noise, to see the intercom flashing as it emits an ear piercing shriek. You'll definitely have to find the volume control on that thing, you think to yourself as you hurry over to the terminal, punching the talk button to kill the annoying buzzing.

"What?!" You almost yell into the microphone as you try to clear you head.

"I'm sorry..." A woman's voice says, sounding almost like she's about to cry. "I didn't mean to.." She says on the verge of sobbing.

"I'm sorry," you say a bit more reasonably, "I didn't mean to yell." You explain hoping you haven't just lost your new job. Screaming at the tenants would probably get you fired almost instantly.

"Well," the voice continues after a few seconds, "This is Mrs. Barrett up in apartment 4B. My sink is clogged and I can't seem to get it free, could you please come up here and fix it?" She asks finally.

"Of course," you say in your best soothing voice, trying to gloss over any damage you might have caused by screaming at her. "I'll be right up," you say as you wonder how to get a sink unclogged. You've never been really handy, in fact you can't think of a single thing that you've ever fixed in your life.

As your about to leave the apartment, you glance again at the tenant list wondering what it'll say about Mrs. Barrett. You quickly find her name listed beside her husband's, Mr Richard and Victoria Barrett, moved in two years ago with their daughter. The scrawled notation next to their name seems to say something like "Sandy Cooter" but you have no idea what that could possibly mean. Shrugging your shoulders you toss the tenant list back on the counter and head out of your apartment.

As you ride up in the elevator you notice that some of the local teenagers have taken to scratching messages into the veneer of the elevators walls. The largest number of messages seem to refer to a girl named Megan and how easy she seems to be making you wonder if she lives in the building and if so how true some of the graffitti is. Your thoughts about the mysterious girl named Megan are interrupted as the elevator lurches to a stop at the fourth floor.

You walk down the hallway and knock on the door of 4B. After a few minutes you try again, wondering where she went, she seemed to be anxious for you to get here but now she wasn't answering the door. You knock for the third time, beginning to get annoyed at being made to wait when you suddenly realize that you have the master key to all the doors in the building. But should you use it, knowing that she's at home?

Should you use your master key or not?
