“Penny I have always loved Jo and I don’t know what has changed but if there is even a chance that there can be something between me and her, I have to see.” Alex shrugged.
“I understand.” Penny said. “I am going to go crash on the couch tonight.” She said standing up as she did took off the choker and handed it to him.
“Why don’t you take the mattress and I will sleep on the couch in the living room.” He smiled trying to not be a total asshole. He saw her about to argue with him.
“I insist.” He forced a smile.
“Okay, goodnight.” She said and headed back up toward the walkway.
Alex sat out on the dock for a long time mulling over his choice, the choice that had just cost him Penny, a sure thing in favor of a long shot. But it was what he wanted, what he had always wanted. Jo. He didn’t know what he would do next or how he would go about it but he knew he had to make a move any move if he wanted a chance at Jo. He stood up and sighed as he looked down at the choker in his hand and sighed. Pulled his arm back and tossed it in the lake and sighed.
