Lust of the jungle flesh | Sixth | 4

It was time to live up to her reputation; as a genius.

Even if she could survive the heat of this planet while both suns blazed overhead there would be the insects. Even if she should survive the biting insects there would likely be larger animals who came to investigate the rotting bodies of the bounty hunters the crash had killed.

Alice knew she would have to move but it was foolish to rush off into the jungle.

Venturing back towards the remains of the Galileo 12 Alice returned to the centre of the crash site. She climbed up onto the remains, noticing how much warmer the outside of the spacecraft had already come.

Heat was the key. The Galileo was designed to survive the heat of planetary re-entry and somewhere inside there was a spacesuit.

The plan? Jury-rig a survival suit.

Alice knew she would have to take the coolant system that pumped a chemical liquid compound around the inside of the craft out and strip it down. She would need to reduce it in size and weight as much as possible so that she could carry it. Backpack size would be perfect.

The next step would be to connect the coolant system to the spacesuit. The spacesuit already had a layered system in its design. It would normally be easy to attach the suit to any sort of piping system. The challenge for Alice was that she would have to see what tools she had.

Success would mean she would have a system that would help her survive the heat and allow her to move. Partial success would be a system that might help her survive the heat but either make movement impossible or very hard. Failure? Failure left like death.

Alice began her desperate gamble by climbing back into the Galileo 12 to retrieve the spacesuit.

Is Alice successful?
