Breaking The Paladin | 2p1k3 | 18

“So you are returning the life debt. Like you said you would ‘when and where you choose’” Marus remembered Metradon beautifully, and it was a start his rather interesting life. “You are offering to help me with Mira by giving yourself to me?”

Marus would have thought this was some Divine comedy. Except when a full-bodied crimson blush that washes over the Sun Goddess A’hiriya. She has her eyes down and looking to the side and all the other mannerisms of supreme embarrassment.

Abruptly an epiphany slaps Marus along side his horns with a two-by-four piece of wood, and the idea dawns on him that she is directed to do this. She probably does have some desire for him because he is the reason she is still living. Trying to understand a woman’s, let along a god’s, psychology was asking to be put in an insane asylum.

For the first time in a long time, Marus speaks without any idea where he is headed with the conversation. “But you are not really choosing to do this, are you.” It was a statement versus a question.

A’hiriya takes a deep breath to halt Marus’s stream of thoughts, “Again yes and no-“

“Your-… ‘Our’, Goddess? So the rest of the Pantheon is without a clue?” In a rare moment of charity Marus allows time for A’hiriya to finish.

The previous warm smile from A’hiriya returns but to Marus, it is a little less annoying now for some reason. “Rudimentarily your understanding is correct. As I said I can chose a different path. However, like Mira I have seen a change in you. It took a great deal of effort but I even helped Mira see past the trauma of you raping her.”

A’hiriya’s eyes harden, “I did that for Mira; she loves you too. However, if you maliciously abuse her again in any way I will kill you.” She shifts through the planes with her biological body to replace the illusion she started with.

Does Marus respond to the threat? Interruption? Else?
