Angelina decided to walk in - she was getting cold outside, and the dark street was no more menacing then this old house. She stepped into the hall, that look old and worn, as far as she could see in the dim light coming from upstairs. She called "hello", just to make sure she wasn't sneaking in. There was a second stair going down to the cellar, and a door to her left. She knocked carefully at the door, but nobody answered. She called "Hello?" again, but stillk there was no answer. She hesitated to try the door, and started to walk upstairs. As there was light, somebody should be there. At this moment she heard a slam from the hall. She walked down again, but she nobody was around as she arrived. The entrance door was closed. She tried it, and found it was locked! She began to feel uneasy. There was no window to escape, and shouting or screaming was of no use here. She could either try the second door to the unknown rooms to her left, or go upstairs or down into the cellar. |
