You might think it would be a little humiliating to be driven to work by your parents, but this was different. I sat in the back seat of my parents' car, listening as Mom and Dad tried to prepare me for my first day of work. I already knew a lot of what they had to say, just from paying attention, but it certainly didn't hurt to hear it from them directly.
“I want you to expose yourself to all areas of the operation,” Dad said. “You don't have to be an expert in any particular area, but if you're going to run the business someday, you at least need to know a little bit about everything that we do. For these first few days, I'd like you to wander around, observing, and seeing what you can do to help out. Don't try to run the place the first day on the job.”
Wander around and observe? In a porn studio? And get paid for it?!! Are you kidding me? This is what I've been dreaming to do for six years.
Mom continued the orientation. “The company is basically divided up into departments. There is Production, of course. That's what most people think of when they think about what we do. Production relates to the actual filming of the movies. There are basically three sub-departments of Production: Straight, Gay/Lesbian/Bi, and Kink. The first two speak for themselves. Kink is pretty much anything that strays beyond that – fetishes, mostly. You can have crossover between those sub-departments, but for the most part, that's what they are. You'll also find each sub-department has an on-site recording studio, as well as a remote unit.”
“Remote unit...” I try to connect the dots to what I already know. “So when you do an outdoor scene, that's when you use them?”
Dad nods his head. “Right. But also when we go to a college for one of the 'College Fuck Fest' episodes, or when we do the ones where we pick someone guy up in a van and offer him money if he'll let a guy suck him off... We have one unit in Florida right now; they've been there for a week, lining up amateurs who are on Spring Break to have sex in a hotel room. We think we'll have enough footage for a whole series called 'Spring Break Sluts and Sucks.'”
I kind of wish I had been asked to go along on that project. It sounds like fun, and I make a mental note to watch for the series release.
The orientation continues as Mom explains the company further.
“We also have the Personnel Department. It is responsible for recruiting and hiring – not just for work around the studio, but for actors and actresses, as well.”
I am surprised at that news. “I thought you had people lining up left and right to be in your movies.”
“We do,” Mom explains. “But you have to screen them carefully. We get tons of men who just want a chance to have sex with beautiful women. The problem is that most of them aren't attractive enough for our standards. Those who are frequently have trouble … um … performing when there is a whole crew standing around, recording everything. We have to sort them out. Of course, with women, we have plenty of options, too, and we have to select them on the basis of how sexy they are and how well they can take direction and fake an orgasm.”
“We also do recruiting, too,” says Dad. “Sometimes we're looking for something in particular, and not every actor or actress is willing or able to do what we need.”
“What do you mean?”
Mom explains. “An easy example is stuff with animals. I did a lot of stuff on film, but even I couldn't bring myself to do that.”
Dad offers another explanation. “We also just look for new talent – people who never would dare try out for a porn movie, but who obviously would be a big sell. We're also asking around about who has the biggest dick, who has the nicest tits, and that sort of thing.”
We pull into the parking lot into a reserved parking space and prepare to continue my orientation inside.
