You rush out the front door and crash right into Dr. Burbank, the medical director, sending both of you sprawling. He gets up and looks at you, noticing your hospital gown and partial state of dress. His eyes also fall to the file and paperwork that has sprawled all over the ground.
“Are you a patient here?” he asks, suspiciously. “Do you have permission to be outside?”
He reaches for his phone, and you have only seconds to act. You could make a run for it, but you know it would only be a matter of time before you would be caught. You try to offer some reasonable explanation, but inwardly, you find yourself thinking, “Why can’t you just walk away as if you never met me?”
No sooner do you think those thoughts than Dr. Burbank puts his phone back in his holster, turns on his heels, and walks away, without saying another word.
That’s when it starts to sink in, that you might be the cause of all of this weirdness…
