Lust of the jungle flesh | Sixth | 5

Mrr'ro shadowed the strange creature as he hacked, slashed and stomped his way towards the cliffs. He was taking the most direct path possible to them - did he know the way? Had he been here before? Could he sense the water?

Mrr'ro continued to be confused by the bald creature. He was certainly making progress but at what cost?

As Josh stopped for a short break, unware of Mrr'ro in the trees over head, Mrr'ro took the chance to relax. It was obvious to her that the odd male was not coping very well in the heat. His pale skin was slick with sweat. Mrr'ro was coping better, it was hotter than she liked but her own green skin was still cool to the touch. Her long tail circled around the branch she was perched on, helping her keep balance as she compared her body to his.

In terms of height she was shorter. That wasn't a surprise. The males of her old tribe were twice her height and his alien was just a head or so taller than her. He seemed far more muscled and heavily built than her kind though. Rather than having large brown eyes the new comer had small colourful eyes. How could he see once it got dark, Mrr'ro wondered?

Stamina, though, Mrr'ro noted with a playful smirk. The stranger had rested barely more than a tick or two before he set off again - cutting his way through Yeort's fingers with his crude but effective weapon.

After three more cycles of hacking and trekking through the trees the bald alien was nearly at the cliffs. So close but not close enough. Mrr'ro squinted, ducking behind the relative safety of a large tree trunk as she spied movement in the vines ahead - perhaps they had left Yeort proper, perhaps they had made it to a new zone where the young of Yeort had only just began to root. Either way; Mrr'ro hoped the alien had a plan.

Josh had no idea what was going on. He knew it was unlikely to be good.

He had spotted movement ahead. Something had caused the vines to ripple and yet there was no wind.

Josh paused, holding his makeshift machete and ready to use it as a weapon if needs be.

It was no good. The ground below his feet errupted into green. Vines flew up from the soil, flinging themselves in all directions - but mainly at Josh, wrapping themselves around his legs.

He stumbled forwards, the vines tightening around his ankles. Josh landed badly, with a thump, bashing his forehead against a rock - but at least he managed to keep hold of his blade.

The thick green vines began to swirl around his body.

Suddenly there was a wail overhead. Something else, something larger, was moving down from the tree tops - and it looked like a naked green alien.

What does the jungle have in stock next?
