The Flat Tire | smlfox | 8

Shortly after sitting down in the waiting room, 's phone announces that he has a text message from .

He reads the message: "Do you like spaghetti?"

He sends one back. "Very much so, why?"

Once again his text message alert sounds. "Because I thought I might pick up some stuff on the way back tonight and make dinner."

His heart racing, he quickly types "do you want me to pick up some wine to go with it?"

She sends him one last text message. It was seemingly timed perfectly to leave him hanging. "No, I want to be coherent tonight. I've got to go my lunch break is over. See you tonight!"

He spends the next hour trying to occupy himself. The TV is the waiting is set on QVC for some reason. Since Lowe's is next door, he decides to go wander around Lowe's for a while. He returns to the tire shop just as they are pulling the car out.

After paying for the tire, he heads off to run his errands. Driving 's car is reminiscent of his high school days driving his Accord which took his mind off of the text from for a little while. He stops at Wal-Mart to pick up some groceries, body wash, shampoo, and some new boxers. As he picks out a pack with designs he likes, he wonders what will think of them. He brings himself back to reality and checks out.

He heads back home and puts away his groceries. He looks at the clock and decides to go for an hour long bike ride. grabs his Trek off the porch and heads out. Throughout the ride, however, he is distracted by thoughts of what could have meant by "I want to remain coherant tonight."

sends him a text message to say she's on her way to the grocery store just as he gets back into the parking lot. He worked up quite a sweat on his ride, so he jumps into the shower. Just as he finishes getting dressed, returns.
