The Fall of Athenapolis | kiahoga | 16

The door opens and one of your men, Antonios comes in. He was something of an odd bird in your company, urbane and cultured he was the opposite of most of the rest of the men who like you came from the rough and tumble streets of Hellopolis.

“I’m surprised you're not partaking of the fruits of conquest Antonios.” You query.

“I had other things on my mind, Captain.” He replies, not looking at either you or Adrianna.

“Still looking for your sister?” You ask.

He sidesteps the question, “Sir, while you were partaking of a well deserved rest I took the liberty to look into the former Lord's office. While I was looking through some of his papers and correspondence I found two that I thought should be brought to your attention.”

Looking down at Adrianna, you give her a quick kiss and sit up. Standing you pick up the silk robe and walk over to your soldier, still a little nervous Adrianna grabs the covers and hides herself from view. “If you felt it was important enough to interrupt us it must be important indeed.”

“Sir the first was a flyer advertising the sale of The high Priestess’s Daughter Amara, judging by the date on the poster it indicates she may still be in the city.” Antonios says, handing you the poster.

Looking over the poster you notice that someone had added a note indicating that she was sold to a Rastus son of Minos for 520 in gold. A very large sum you say to yourself. Looking over at Adrianna you ask, “Adrianna do you know of a Rastus son of a Minos.”

Adrianna sits up curling her legs under her, and making sure to stay covered. “ Are you sure about that name Milord, for I know of a Rastus of Minos but he’s a notorious Pederast.” She says puzzled.

“Probably bought her as a gift,” You think out loud. “And the other?” You say.

Atonois looks at several pieces of folded parchment. “Captain, this was a correspondence for the master of the house dated two days ago. I found it unopened on his desk.” He finishes handing you the letter.

Reading over the letter, a shark-like grin comes to your face.

“Well, Well, Well.” You mutter tossing the letter onto a table.

“Antonius, can you please invite Lady Sophia to join us. I left her in behind the blue door at the end of this hallway.” You quietly order pointing in the general direction.

“Yes Captain.” Your man says, turning smartly he leaves the room.

Getting up Adrianna walks over to you draped in the silk sheet from the bed and wraps her arms around you.” What was in the letter if I could ask.” She says.

“It was a letter from a man well known to me, Petroculus Har’Amaden former Captain to the High priestess of Hellopolis. In part, it appears to be a response to an offer proposed by your father; in return for your lovely body, your father could have safety within the inner walls of the city.” You finish, looking into Adrianna astonished eyes.

Before she can respond, Antonios walks into the room leading Lady Sophia who...
