The Audition | dkburrows | 4

You spent the morning travelling to a potential job on the far-side of town where the audition went horribly wrong. You flubbed every line and gave the impression of a wooden puppet instead of anything resembling the character you were supposed to be playing.

You're now certain that you're completely done, washed up in acting. All that's left to do is to crawl home to the derisive 'I told you so's of your family and friends.

As always your mind lingers on how it began at the audition where you refused to take your clothes off. 'If only I hadn't been such a prude,' you lament.

It's then that the bus passes an old worn-down building with large signs proclaiming 'Naked Dancing Women!'. It hardly registers at first as you've seen such things before but today with your mind on the audition it sparks a thought in your mind.

Reaching up you yank hard on the cord to stop the bus, scrambling out into the aisle with a few 'excuse me's.

You're hardly aware of what you're doing or why but in short order you're pushing through the doors of the strip club, blinking as the lighting goes from late day sunshine to dimly lit incandescent lights and shadows.

"Can I help you?" a voice rumbled.

Does she have a plan to follow up on?
