You are surprised at yourself, as you are seriously considering it. However, you then rethink it.
“How can you guarantee she won’t ever find out?!” you ask Jessica.
“Because I won’t tell her, of course!” she responds.
You don’t recall her being this mean when you and her dated! Well, you didn’t need another reason to not get involved with her again, but it’s good to know you’ve got one!
“No!” you correct. “I mean, how can you know you won’t tell her when you don’t even know who she is?!”
“Well, that’s a good point,” Jessica admits, “but it’s very unlikely you and I know that many of the same people.”
“We knew enough of the same ones for you to hear the last story,” you remind her, “and that wasn’t even actually true!”
“Also right,” she says.
“And the door is right… Right this way,” you tell her, ushering her back the way she came.
“Wait!” she says right before you open the door. “If you’re not interested in renewing our relationship, at least let me lead you to a decent next girl.” |
