Thinking for a while, you can honestly think of nothing better to do. Why not see the neighbor now? Looking down, you realize you’re naked. You put a quick thought in your mother’s mind to fall back asleep (with improved dreams of what you can do when you return), return to your room, and get dressed in a plain shirt and shorts. Finally, you leave, and head next door.
As you approach the Van Deckers’ door, you are reminded of them. Kim Van Decker was a classmate of yours, and captain of the cheerleading squad. That made sense to you, as she was… Oh, in your mind, you can say it; She was HOT! Nothing that comes to mind made you hotter than those Friday afternoons, when you saw all the cheerleaders walking through school in their uniforms. Suddenly, the thought of her mother in a similar uniform comes to mind, and you amend the previous opinion.
Finally, you approach the front door. You ring the bell a few times, and receive no answer. Thinking you’ll return later, you turn away. You decide to head home, unsure of something better to do before you hear the door open.
“!” Ms. Van Decker’s voice calls out, calling you back.
You return to the door, noticing as you do that she stands there, holding the door open only a crack.
“I’m glad to see you’re out of the hospital!” she adds.
“Yeah!” you state simply. “Mom said you wanted to know when I got out!”
“I did!” she says, though slightly hesitant. “I just wish you would’ve come later.”
“Why?” you ask her honestly.
“Well, I must’ve forgotten to pay some of the light bill or something.” she says.
As she opens the door further, you are treated to the sight of her in what appears to be a uniform similar to what her daughter wears, although ill-fitting. You are torn between asking for an explanation, and simply trying to get her out of it. |
