Yet another alien planet story... | yoyo1342 | 4

Resolving to find the crash site and recover what you can, you open the door of the pod, immediately letting in swamp water nearly to your waist. You take the small navigational wristband from the pod and place it on your wrist before stepping outside.

Once outside, you take in your surrounding with your eyes. There is little that you can see that distinguishes this swamp from one on your home planet, except for minor details. The trees that rise out of the swamp look very much like Banyan trees, with their tangled mass of separate trunks, but the bark on them is much smoother than any bark you’ve ever seen, looking more like very even birch bark than anything else. Also, rather than leafs, they seemed to have airy yellow bulbs almost like bubbles. Between the prevalent yellow bubbles, the pinkish sky, and the sun tinged with blue, you were very aware that you were on an alien planet.

Your jumpsuit was designed to be breathable, which you were thankful for in this hot muggy atmosphere, but as a result it did little to keep out the swamp water. The result was to make the anti-ballistic suit operate more like a wet suit, and before you knew it, you were quite warm wear the water had seeped in. You left the pod behind, moving as fast as you could in waist deep water, without any terribly clear idea of where you were headed. Before you knew it, you had lost sight of the pod, and in the monotony of the swamp, all you could do was trust your compass and keep moving.

Keep walking and...

          You trip...
