The Choices We Make | JonGrey | 11

You pull on your clothes quickly, and you smile as you watch Katherine dreamily pull the straps of her dress over her shoulders. You wonder if you should help with the dress again, but she seems more than capable. You wrap your coat around Katherine's shoulder, and she slides next to you, draping your arm over her far shoulder. She nuzzles your neck for a moment, and you feel her lips kiss you gently.

As you begin the trek back to town, you notice that the shoulders of the roads are uneven, full of shrubs and rocks. You ask Katherine if she's going to be okay walking through it in her dress and she shrugs.

"Do I really have a choice?" she asks.

"We could wait for someone to come by and pick us up," you offer. Katherine looks at you in disbelief.

"So we can both get killed by whatever serial murderer is picking up hitchhikers? Doesn't sound like the greatest plan of the night to me. Besides, while I appreciate your gallantry, I'm pretty sure I can keep up with you." You smile, nodding, and continue walking. Katherine slips her hand into yours, your jacket still covering her shoulders.

You walk for some time without even seeing a car, and realize that Katherine was probably right. Emma had taken the 'shortcut,' which few people used, especially this late at night. You also notice, however, that Katherine is walking a bit slower, her feet beginning to ache from walking in heels. She refuses help, though, and walks with a more determined air whenever you ask if she's okay.

After more walking, you come to a strange building, situated off the road on the left hand side. A neon sign reading "open" is on in the window, and you study it for a moment. The word Motel is carved into the wooden marker, with a list of prices unreadable from this distance. You also notice that across the street from the motel is a nice looking restaurant, and you throw back your head in resignation when you realize what happened. In the dark (and afterglow of your erotic experiences), you went the wrong way down the road. Katherine realizes it, too, and begins to laugh.

"As if this night couldn't get weirder," she says. "Well, I was hoping for a good night's sleep tonight, but I'm hungry as hell. Do you want to grab something to eat? They may have a payphone in the restaurant; we could call some friends on their mobiles."

You nod, agreeing with Katherine's assessment whole-heartedly.

"Or," she whispers, "we could finally get down to what I've been waiting for all night."

"Dinner?" you ask teasingly. Katherine looks at you with a different sort of hunger. "You and I have already had a snack," she whispers. Her lips breeze by your ear. "'Course, I perform much better after a full meal."

Thankfully, you're packing some cash after selling that ticket.

What's it going to be?
