Against your better scruples, you say, grinning slyly, "How often do you work out?"
He laughs, "Every other day, just about."
"I can tell."
He stares into your eyes. His are blue and... electrifying. It makes your heart beat a little more noticeably. You shift your weight, surprised by his... interested expression.
"So no more questions?"
"I don't have any others yet."
"Well don't hesitate to bring any up, ask what strikes your mind."
You walk down the western hall and down the stairwell into the basement.
The basement has a smooth cement-like floor and grey tiled walls. It doesn't look as nearly as nice as the ground floor.
"This is mostly where special activities are conducted," Edward says calmly as you stroll down the hall, "We have science labs, sound-insulated rooms, and rooms for things like tea ceremony and prayer."
None of the rooms you pass have any windows in them, so it's hard to see what he's talking about.
"That's interesting. Do students regularly use those rooms? Why would you want sound-proof rooms anyway?"
"They're used all the time. Some are sound proofed so students can sing or practice music, of course. They're more or less multipurpose, but over the years they've gotten some specific curricular activities attached to them."
You laugh at the possibilities, "There are so many rooms. It must be hard to check up on all the students using them."
He sighs, "Yes, we've had a few behavior problems over the years. Students would conduct secret "affairs" down here. We're more careful about it now, but every once in a while, we'll find two students gripped in the throes of a passionate make-out session..."
You smile, remembering your own experiences, "It's a little dark down here for that, but I suppose that could make it exciting..."
He smiles, "I quite like it."
You feel your face contorting at Ed's comment. He likes it? What? The kissing? The basement? All of it? Maybe you misunderstand him.
"Would you like to take a look at one of the rooms?" |
