Greg arrived and knocked on Ashlyn’s door. She opened it and Greg saw her standing next to a cute blonde girl. The blonde was looking at him and smiling.
“What’s this about Sis?” he asked “You sounded pretty serious on the phone.”
“It’s this video” said Ashlyn holding it up “It’s cursed.”
“You mean like in The Ring.” Greg said sarcasticlly “Let me guess. You have seven days to live.”
“No dummy. This is serious. Someone give me this, or actually slipped it to me when I was in the library and I made the mistake of watching it. Next thing I know I’m forced to do everything I’m told.”
“Like what?” he asked.
“I’m not going to tell you “said Ashlyn “because a) I don’t want to relive it and b) As my brother I’m pretty sure you really don’t want to know.”
“That bad huh?”
“Yes.”
“So you O.k now?”
“Fine. See it turns out the cure is having someone else watch it or waiting seven days.”
“And you got someone to watch it. Who?”
“Me.” Said Bianca. “She called for a pizza then had the T.v. pointed at the door when she opened it. Then she made me stick a …”
“Shut-up” said Ashlyn, not wanting Greg to know the ‘test’ she had used.
“What did you make her do?” asked Greg.
“It’s not important,” said Ashlyn “What is important is that you help cure her without us having to use the video again This thing is evil and I don’t want it to be used again.”
“You know I’d consider smashing it, but I’m not entirely sure that wouldn’t make it worse.” Said Greg. “So I’ll need to look at my books back home and work out what symbols and sigils were used as well as the incatnations that are probably on it to. You’ll need to write down everything you remember about the video, and Bianca …”
Bianca smiled at him and Greg almost lost his train of thought. “… Um … yes you do that too, write down everything you remember about the video.” Why was she smiling at him like that? He wondered. Girls didn’t smile like that at him.
“OH Greg” said Ashlyn as she began to write. “Would you mind taking Bianca back to your place. It’s far more secluded and it’ll be safer for her in her condition.”
“Oh come on Ash” he said “Bianca doesn’t want to stay in some big old house with me and I’m not going to make her.”
Ashlyn smiled. “Bianca would you like to go with Greg?”
Bianca stared nodding vigorously.
“Speak” said Greg.
“Oh yes. I’d love to go with you.” Said Bianca “Like your sister says it’ll be much safer for me.”
“Fine” said Greg.
“Here’s what I remember” said Ashlyn handing Greg a list. “Bianca can keep working on hers in the car.”
“Fine” said Greg “Come on Bianca, lets go. Ashlyn obviously wants to get rid of us.”
Bianca followed him smiling sweetly the whole time.
Once they got to his car Greg turned to her.
“Sorry I’m still having trouble buying this. Ash says you’ll do anything your told.”
“That’s right” said Bianca.
