Soccer Mom | Dellena | 1

You reach down and dig deeply into your purse, trying to find the keys to your house. A contented smile crosses your face as you find them and pull them out to unlock the door at the sound of the banter of your son and his two friends behind you. They have just returned from winning a prestigious local soccer tournament, one that many of the areas college coaches were attending. They were flush with excitement from winning a tough match in the finals, a goal that he and his team had been working hard toward for several months now. While the victory was nice, the possibility of a college scholarship was just as wonderful, you thought to yourself. But even so, you were happy just to see them so overjoyed as you opened the door and walked inside.

As you set your purse down on the table, you look back over your shoulder and ask, "You guys want something to drink?"

"Sure, Mom. That would be great," Zach, your son responds. His two friends, Brett and Jon, his two teammates and friends, nod their heads in agreement. You turn and leave them to their chatter as you head into the kitchen.

While you are fixing the drinks, you notice that it has gone suddenly quiet in the other room. Frowning to yourself, you place the glasses on a tray and head back into the living. You serve one to each of the boys, who nod their thanks as they take a sip. As you set the tray down on a table, you notice a somewhat expectant expression on each of their faces as they watch you. "What?" you ask them, puzzled.

"Well, Mom, we were wondering if you were going to keep your promise to us...."

What promise?

That you'll go the the post game victory party with them as their date

          "What promise?"

          Motivation from the team mom
